Alexander McQueen FW 09

Much like the eclecticism of the Spring/Summer 2008 collection, McQueen’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection was a patchwork of references to his own career as well as those of his major predecessors - pinching the houndstooth from Christian Dior’s New Look here, and a bit of the classic Chanel tweed suit there, McQueen reworked these fashion milestones in a grotesque parody, which actually breathed new life into the antiquated staples. Philip Treacy again supplied outrageous headgear, and models appeared on the runway with half-comical, half-disturbing enormous black-painted lips.
